Man Killed In Highway 24 Crash Sunday Night

The crash happened in Orinda shortly before midnight.

LAMORINDA, CA — A 22-year-old Pittsburg man died after a crash late Sunday night on state Highway 24 in Orinda, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded at 11:46 p.m. to a report of a solo-car crash on westbound Highway 24 just west of St. Stephens Drive. They arrived to find the vehicle had overturned and the driver was ejected.

The driver was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he succumbed to his injuries early this morning, according to the CHP.

His name has not been released.

Investigators determined the man was driving a Kia Spectra sedan and for some reason veered to the right and off the roadway, then struck an electrical box and chain link fence, CHP officials said.
