Meet the Artists This Weekend

Meet the photographer responsible for snapping this gorgeous photo.

The Orinda Library Gallery is pleased to feature the work of Wenda Pyman, photographer, Leslie Swartz, artist and the Clay Arts Guild for the month of August. The public is invited to meet the artists and join them for an Opening Reception on Sunday, August 3, from 2:30 to 4:30pm in the Orinda Library Gallery at 26 Orinda Way, Orinda.

As a landscape, travel and nature photographer since 1983, Wenda Pyman’s body of work reflects her all-consuming passion to capture nature’s diverse patterns and imagery, both locally and worldwide. From the contemplative to the dramatic, for her it is not just about a perfect location or composition, but finding harmony and balance between elements of color, lines, texture and shapes that are both pleasing to her and the viewer.

Pyman has been a Moraga Art Gallery member since 2003. Her work has been published in newspapers, calendars, and CD album covers. Her images have been collected both internationally and nationally. When she is not traveling, she roams the East Bay hills, Mount Diablo & beyond. More of her work can be seen at wendapyman.photoshelter.com/ or wendapyman.com.

California Bay Area resident Leslie Swartz has been producing art for more than 15 years. Her subject matter is as varied as the media she is inspired to use.

For more than 20 years Swartz lived and worked in Zimbabwe and Botswana, and continues to be inspired by the culture of the people she lived amongst, as well as the beautiful natural surroundings. Whilst there she raised her 3 children, and enjoyed teaching upper elementary school students.

Upon returning to California she became involved in her community’s grassroots activities, which included membership in the local art gallery. For its exhibitions she experiments with oils, pen and ink, water colour pencil, graphite, oil pastel and batik to create large and small scale works.

Swartz gets inspiration from travels, visits to museums, aquariums, parks, her garden and conversing with fellow artists.
