Moraga Commission Weighs 27-Home Terrace Subdivision

LAMORINDA, CA — A proposal to turn six acres into a site filled by 27 homes including garages and smaller ADU units.

A proposed subdivision would bring 27 detached, single-family homes, including some with accessory dwelling units, on vacant land near the eastern end of Moraga Way.

The project would divide a vacant 6-acre site into 27 lots ranging from approximately 4,200 square feet to approximately 29,000 square feet.

The site sits southeast of the Moraga Road and Moraga Way intersection.

Canyon Road borders the site to the northwest, and Country Club Drive borders it to the south. Existing commercial and residential uses also surround the property.

The proposed two-story homes would range from 24.6 feet to 31 feet tall, and cover up to 3,708 square feet, including enclosed garages. Seven homes would include ADUs.

A new internal street connecting to the east end of Moraga Way would provide access to 21 lots. The other six lots would connect to Country Club Drive.

The site falls within Area 15 of the Moraga Center Specific Plan, which is zoned for housing, allowing six homes per acre.

The Moraga Planning Commission will consider the Moraga Terrace Subdivision at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, in the Council Chambers at 335 Rheem Blvd.
