Moraga Couple and Council Candidates Vow to Go Sign-Less This Election Year

Here's a novel concept: concentrate your advertising on Internet ads and your web site and keep all those political signs off of people's lawns.

Moraga Town Council candidates Dennis and Eleni Wanken announced today they will spare their fellow Moragans the sight of those perennial campaign signs and run a more environmentally sensitive campaign this year.

"For years, Moragans have dreaded the emergence of campaign signs in the Fall," the husband and wife candidates said Monday. "The signs clutter our beautiful semirural community and are truly wasteful. In these tough economic times, we have decided to lead by example and demonstrate financial prudence. As council members, we will work to preserve the Town's financial resources just as we would
our own."

Instead, the couple says, they will rely on visiting with Moraga voters face-to-face, communication through a campaign e-mail address and their web site to get out their message.
