Moraga Fire District Plans Mulholland Ridge Burn

Crews will treat 1.5 acres Monday morning to strengthen a strategic wildfire fuel break nearby.

LAMORINDA, CA — The Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District plans to conduct a prescribed burn this morning at Mulholland Ridge Open Space in Moraga as part of ongoing wildfire risk reduction work.

Crews expect to begin burning at 10 a.m. and treat approximately 1.5 acres east of Mulholland Reservoir. The district said cooler temperatures and the return of the marine layer created favorable conditions for the project.

The operation will establish and maintain a strategic fuel break along the ridge-top trail. Crews will treat an area approximately 100 feet wide beside the trail and expect to finish by 1 p.m.
