Moraga Reminds All Amateur, Professional Contractors — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please
Moraga Town Manager Mike Segrest reminds residents to confine their construction noise during civilized hours.

In an unusual step — unusual in that Lamorinda Patch has never seen the town do it before — Town Manager Mike Segrest this week issued a reminder to those who like to crank up their home improvement projects at the crack of dawn: don't do it.
"The town would like to remind everyone that construction of buildings, structures, and projects is allowed daily between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Moraga Municipal Code Section 7.12.090)," Mike wrote. "Construction work is not allowed before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. except in the case of emergency."
That may come as news to some Moragans who think nothing of firing up their gear at 6 a.m., and we'll have to see what the town intends to do to violators, but the admonition is clear.

"Your neighbors would appreciate it if loud construction activities, such as jack hammers or other equipment using compressed air, were scheduled on weekdays," Mike went on. "Additionally, construction vehicles used for construction projects should not be parked on private streets overnight or on the weekends."
Interesting. We'll let you know when the first test case scenario arises, but this seems like a first step in addressing some of the noise issues in town. We'll just have to see.

We've been told that if the buzz saws and blowers fire up with the roosters in your neighborhood it's time to call 925-284-5010. While not a high priority, a police officer may be able to counsel the early riser. Remember to give a precise location and description of the person making the noise.
