Moraga's Segrest a Finalist for South Lake Tahoe Position
Moraga has launched a search for a new Town Manager to replace Mike Segrest and the timing appears good as Segrest is talking with South Lake Tahoe.
Officials in South Lake Tahoe say that Moraga Town Manager Mike Segrest is a finalist for a similar position in that mountain resort town.
Segrest, who has served as Moraga's manager for a little more than a year, has said he is looking for a better environment for his wife, who suffers from respiratory problems. Members of the Moraga Town Council and many citizens first heard that Segrest intended to leave the city in May when local blog EastBayDaze confirmed he was a finalist for a position in Telluride, Colo.
He did not get that job, but is one of two finalists for outgoing manager David Jinkens position in South Lake Tahoe. Jinkens will retire Aug. 7.

Segrest told the Tahoe Daily Tribune that he "normally wouldn't be looking for a new job so soon" but that concerns for his wife's health have driven his search for a job in an area with "better air quality."
A panel of South Lake Tahoe commission representatives and community members interviewed Segrest and Beaver Creek Resort Company Executive Director Tony O'Rourke at Lake Tahoe Airport on Monday morning. The panel will make its final recommendation to the Town Council in the next few weeks.
