Morning Fire Threatens Homes, Burns 8 Acres In Lafayette
The cause is under investigation.

An 8-acre brush fire briefly threatened a home in Lafayette early this morning, according to a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District fire marshal.
Firefighters responded at about 4:10 a.m. to a report of a fire in the 3300 block of Deer Hill Road, between Pleasant Hill Road and Brown Avenue, Fire Marshal Robert Marshall said.
The fire had already consumed 3 acres of vegetation by the time firefighters arrived and Marshall said fire crews had to call for a second-alarm response because the fire was situated on a steep hill. He said the fire briefly threatened a home in the area but firefighters were able to save the structure.
