One act of kindness of one English gentleman changed the world..
Nicky’s Family is a powerfully moving docudrama exploring the humanitarian efforts of Sir Nicholas Winton. Winton, who recently died at the age of 106, was a British, non-Jewish stockbroker who rescued nearly 700 Jewish children from occupied Prague just prior to the outbreak of WWII. Feeling that Hitler’s threats should be taken seriously, he brought the children to Britain, battling bureaucracy at both ends and saving them from almost certain death.
His heroic exploits were only made public when his wife discovered decades-old paperwork in their attic. He passed away on the anniversary of the departure of a train carrying 241 children to safety.
