Noted Author, Education Equity Advocate Tyrone Howard to Speak at St. Mary's College

UCLA Education Professor to lecture on "Race, Class, Culture & the Pursuit for Educational Equity & Access"

What: The Kalmanovitz School of Education at Saint Mary’s College of California presents author and Professor of Education and Founder and Director of the Black Male Institute at UCLA Tyrone Howard as a featured guest lecturer. Howard will deliver an address entitled “Race, Class, Culture & the Pursuit for Educational Equity & Access” at the Soda Center on at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014.

Howard has been on the forefront of research, teaching and service around issues of race, culture, and educational equity, particularly with materially unprivileged communities and historically marginalized populations. He is the author of the bestselling book, “Why Race and Culture Matter in Schools: Closing the Achievement Gap in America’s Classrooms” and “Black Male(d): Peril and Promise in the Education of African American Males.”
