Orinda City Council Ratifies State of Emergency
Council members instruct the Director of Public Works on repair of the Miner Road sinkhole.

LAMORINDA, CA — The Orinda City Council ratified a Local State of Emergency declared on Jan. 12, during a special meeting held Tuesday, Jan. 17.
The emergency was declared because of a large sinkhole on Miner Road near the intersection of Camino Lenada caused by the huge storm that moved through the previous weekend.
Director of Public Works Larry Theis updated council members on the damage and requested input on next steps with the sinkhole repair.

Theis was instructed to have crews work overtime - more than 8 hours a day and seven days a week until the sinkhole is permanently repaired. The city is already pursuing quotes from contractors and will be making a selection as soon as possible.
However, the work will have to be performed as weather allows.
