Orinda Summer Camps Underway

It may not be business as usual, but we’re thrilled to have children participating in our programs once again. The revised Summer Camp schedule began this week with Session I and will run through July 2.

Even though there are children, instructors, and City staff onsite at the Orinda Community Center, we would like to remind the community that the Orinda Community Center and other city facilities remain closed to the general public. These efforts are in place to support social distancing requirements as well as follow the County’s Health Officer Guidance for Modified Childcare During COVID-19 Pandemic.

There have been a few community youth sports groups who have been given the authorization to use City and OUSD fields. These groups have provided health and safety protocols that met Contra Costa County health requirements and are following the County’s “summer camp” protocols. Due to the department’s limited resources with staffing and funding, we’re not able to have staffing on-site to ensure the groups are adhering to these terms. We need assistance from parents or the Orinda community to alert us of any concern so we can be efficient in our inspection.
