Owner Seeks 7th Story For Lamorinda Building

The revised proposal would eliminate ground-floor commercial space and reduce condominiums while retaining below-market-rate units.

LAMORINDA, CA — Topping the public hearings on the agenda for the Monday city council meeting is the request from a developer to add a seventh story to a previously approved six-story building on Mt. Diablo Boulevard, eliminate its ground-floor commercial space, and reduce the number of for sale homes.

The owner’s request would increase the building’s height from 62 feet, 3 inches to 71 feet and reduce the number of condominiums from 31 to 30. The project would retain three below-market-rate units.

The proposal from UTDO Lafayette LLC covers the property at 3458 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

The owner seeks changes to the conditions governing five previously approved components: a State Density Bonus, design review, a major subdivision, a grading permit, and a permit to remove protected trees as part of the development.

The request also would revise the tentative tract map to reflect the revised condominium units.
