Patrols Increased In Lamorinda After Second Armed Home Invasion

Deputies will augment the patrols by Orinda and Lafayette police and will be assigned to the cities until further notice.

LAMORINDA, CA — Extra deputies will be patrolling Lafayette and Orinda starting immediately following a home invasion robbery Tuesday night in Lafayette, sheriff's officials announced Wednesday.

Deputies will work daytime and nighttime hours in marked patrol vehicles. Sheriff's officials said other security measures are being stepped up.

In a statement, Contra Costa County Sheriff David Livingston said a rise in crime prompted the response. Livingston said some security measures will be covert.

A shooting in Orinda on Halloween left five people dead and others injured. Two people suffered minor injuries in the home invasion robbery in Lafayette Tuesday. The victims were restrained by the robbers.
