After receiving interest from the community for Pickleball hours, Orinda Parks and Rec established drop-in hours on Friday afternoons that began at the end of October. This weekly drop-in period was introduced as a pilot, in order to allow staff time to determine if the hours needed to be increased due to demand or decreased due to the lack of interest.

After careful observation it has been determined that the four-hour block of time is not needed at this time. Therefore we are adjusting the hours from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tennis Court #1 beginning Friday, January 29. Players will need to bring their own paddles and balls.

“Drop-in” Pickleball players will still be required to adhere to the Orinda Tennis Court Rules and Regulations, including but not limited to, Rule #7 which states “Players waiting to use courts must establish their own priority for court use. When players are waiting, play is limited to 45 minutes for singles and 1 hour and 15 minutes for doubles.” If you are interested in reserving the pickleball court to guarantee a specific time on Friday afternoons, please complete the Tennis Court Reservation Application and submit it to OrindaParksandRec@CityofOrinda.org.

Parks and Recreation staff are happy to adjust the drop-in hours should the demand increase or decrease. Due to the departments limited resources at this time, we’re asking the community to keep us abreast court use. If you would like to see the hours adjusted, please email us at OrindaParksandRec@CityofOrinda.org
