Garbage Truck Causes Lamorinda Power Outage: PG&E

The outage started at 8:23 a.m. Thursday and impacted 2,221 customers at its peak, PG&E said.

LAMORINDA, CA — UPDATED: A garbage truck caused an outage Thursday morning that left thousands of customers in and around downtown Lafayette without power, PG&E said.

The outage started at 8:23 a.m. and impacted 2,221 customers at its peak, a PG&E spokesperson said.

"A garbage truck struck communication lines, which impacted our equipment, leading to the outage," PG&E Spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian told Patch.

The majority of impacted customers were along Mount Diablo Boulevard between 2nd Street and Risa Road except for some customers north of state Highway 24 along Deer Hill Road and in the vicinity of Sierra Vista Way.

The outage was fully restored at 10:12 a.m.

"In total, it lasted less than two hours," Sarkissian said. "Our crews worked hard to safely and quickly restore all impacted customers, and we thank our customers for their patience."
