Protest Planned In Moraga Thursday: Police
Police have extra personnel on hand to ensure the safety of everyone.

LAMORINDA, CA — The Moraga Police Department reports that a protest is scheduled in Moraga at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. According to Lt. Brian South, extra personnel is in place to ensure the Free Speech rights of the protesters, and to protect the safety and property of local residents and businesses.
If you are not participating in the protest, please avoid the area.
According to organizers, "There will be a Peaceful Solidarity Protest in Memory of George Floyd at Moraga Commons Park on June 4 at 9:30 am. This is in honor of George Floyd and in solidarity with our black students, coworkers, friends, families, and community members. Please wear a mask and practice 6 feet apart."

Floyd died while in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day. The four officers involved in the incident have been charged.
Moraga PD's South said that the department has no specific information about violence planned for the rally. Other East Bay police departments have recommended the following for businesses:

- Limiting access to your property by closing or restricting vehicular driveways
- Ensuring alarm and video systems are in working condition and activated
- Bring in and/or secure equipment, displays, tools, construction materials and other loose items that could be used as a weapon, vandalized or even destroyed
- Boarding up large glass windows
