Saint Mary's Presents Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Fr. John Dear
Come hear Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Fr. John Dear Speak on Living the Nonviolent Life at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25th.

Nobel Peace Price Nominee, eminent theologian, peace activist and author Rev. John Dear will speak at Saint Mary’s College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the College Chapel. Father John was described by Archbishop Desmond Tutu as “the embodiment of a peacemaker” when the Nobel Peace Prize Winner nominated Dear for the award several years ago.
Father John, will speak on living a nonviolent life and his ongoing efforts with Campaign Nonviolence, a national movement to mainstream nonviolence and foster a culture of peace free from war, poverty, racism, sexism, nuclear weapons, environmental destruction and the epidemic of violence.
Internationally known for his peace activism, which includes protesting U.S. policies on Latin America, nuclear weapons development and ROTC programs at Jesuit educational institutions, Dear spent 32 years as a member of the Society of Jesus and is presently a priest in the diocese of Monterrey, Calif. He is the author of 30 books and hundreds of articles, including “Living Peace,” “Jesus the Rebel,” and “The Nonviolent Life.”

Following Father John’s presentation, there will be a reception and book signing in the College’s Mission and Ministry Center. The event is sponsored by The Elfenworks Foundation, Bishop John S. Cummins Institute and Saint Mary’s Office of Mission.
