Seen Around Lamorinda: Lafayette Little League Has a Hoppin' Good Time

Lafayette Little League’s 11-year-old team was out on the field Thursday afternoon, but this game their opponents weren’t just from the town over.

The Baseball Victoria Kangaroos from Australia came out to play at Buckeye Fields this afternoon, as part of their 14-day friendly tournament here in northern California. The players come from different parts of Victoria, Australia.

During their stay, the Australian team will be playing teams in Little League District 57, which includes surrounding towns such as San Ramon and Danville.

The players are each paired up with a family who they stay with while they’re here. Jenny Renouf, mother of the Kangaroo player James Renouf, said this was a great experience for the kids, and they were having lots of fun.

Lafayette’s 11-year-old team was happy to host the Kangaroos for the game on Thursday afternoon.

“It was a fun chance for us to host an international game and play the nation anthems from both countries and let the kids exchange gifts with each other after the game,” said Lafayette Little League Coach Craig Bocks.
