In his resignation announcement/letter, Stromberg, 66, said he'd been a fiscally conservative member of the council, had worked for downtown growth and tried to protect Moraga's open spaces, according to the East Bay Times.

"I have throughout my service to the community made informed decisions that I believed to be in the best interests of the town and reflective of the prevailing goals and values of the constituents," Stromberg said. "I have maintained my unwavering commitment to the preservation of open space and protection of the town's hillsides and ridgelines and scenic corridors."

According to his biography on the Moraga website, Stromberg formed the Stromberg Law Firm in Walnut Creek in 1998, which he continues to manage, and he is a trained business mediator.

Previously, Stromberg served as assistant regional council for the U.S Environmental Protection Agency and he worked at private law firms in San Francisco and Oakland.

Stromberg grew up in Ridgefield, Connecticut, and he attended Cornell and Boston College Law School. He's also served on the Moraga Design Review Board, Moraga Planning Commission and as a board member for the Moraga Community Foundation.
