Sunjams4 features the incomparable Terrie Odabi.

Our Sunjams.org team is excited to bring you this fantastic singer and perfomer, a local Bay Area artist with a broad repertoire of soul, jazz and blues, among other genres. Prepare to be enthralled!

We are also happy to offer you an opening set featuring a terrific Quartet of young musicians from the East Bay institution that is Oaktown Jazz Workshops! See below for more about the music!

Our backyard stage is in Orinda, CA. Come as you are to enjoy our comfortable venue and have some delicious food and drink. Complementary valet parking is included for your safety and convenience.

Your ticket price includes a $50 tax deductible donation, and proceeds will go towards funding music education in under-resourced elementary schools throughout the Bay Area. Your donation will be paying for new instruments, school trips and one-on-one music lessons for at-risk youth throughout our community.

TIME

The show will begin at 3:00 PM and go until 7:00 PM.

TRANSPORTATION

For those driving directly to the event, complimentary valet parking will be provided starting at 2:45 PM. For those guests using public transportation, the Sunjams mainstage is accessible via the Orinda BART station on the Pittsburgh/Bay Point Line. From the station, you can either take Orinda Taxi or the Contra Costa County Bus.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Complimentary food will be available throughout the event so be sure to pack an appetite! The menu is provided by Ike's Gourmet Sandwiches, a veritable local cult amongst Bay Area foodies and foodsters.

Complimentary beer, red and white wines will also be provided.

TICKETS

General admission tickets purchased in advance do not guarantee bleacher seating (those are available on a first come first serve basis). As this is an oudoor concert, you are more than welcome to bring your own seating to the event. If you would prefer to sit on the ground, we have picnic blankets, feel free to bring your favorite if you prefer.

For last minute and day-of guests, we will be reserving a small number of tickets to be purchased at the door. Each day-of ticket will be available for $125 (includes $50 tax deductible donation).

DONATIONS

In addition to the donation included in the price of admission, we encourage and welcome additional donations. If you feel strongly about the impact of music education on our community, we will be accepting donations on the day of the concert by credit card ( Square), though we favor donations by check, payable to Sunjams Productions 501(c)3. Few vocalists own the stage like Terrie Odabi. When the Oakland native begins to sing, a hush falls over the audience. They’re about to take a ride through the highs and lows of soul music, led by a beautiful singer who packs her shows with heart-pumping energy and poignant memories. Whether it’s opening for Average White Band or Lenny Williams, or performing at the Concord Pavilion or the Fillmore Jazz Festival, Terrie’s finely honed instrument is matched by her generous spirit and wit.

“Has anyone here lost their mojo? Raise your hand if you’re suffering from a mojo deficiency,” she asks the crowd at the Monterey Blues Festival. From that point on, she has them in the palm of her hand as she proceeds to testify. “Terrie’s got soul and charm. Her voice soars and draws you in and makes you feel good. She is full of surprises!” enthuses trombonist Steve Turre, member of the Saturday Night Live Band and professor at the Julliard School of Music. Turre, who has performed and co-written with Terrie, dubs her “a jewel from the Bay Area.”

Terrie performs original stirring blues straight from the soul. Her compelling arrangements create a contemporary sound that support Terrie's witty lyrics and compelling voice. She takes pride in her urban roots, appealing to a wide, new audience.

We are excited to Oaktown Jazz Workshops (OJW) is a non-profit, community based, cultural education organization dedicated to passing on the tradition of jazz music to young people through music instruction and educational presentations.

Based in Oakland, California and founded in 1994, OJW celebrates jazz music as an American indigenous art form of profound and artistic significance. A complex and enjoyable music as well as an important indicator of American history, jazz offers a rich legacy that has touched the lives of each generation and continues to be a critical component of contemporary culture.
