There's More To Change Than Clocks When Daylight Saving Time Begins
Do you know what that is? Here's a hint: drought.

Daylight Saving Time officially begins Sunday, and as spring approaches, daylight hours lengthen.
So along with resetting your clocks, remember to reset your automatic sprinkler timers, as well.
Despite a few impressive rain storms this winter, California’s multi-year drought is still far from over, and the need to save water remains critically important, according to regional officials.

Outdoor water use is the easiest place to reduce and accounts for roughly half of the average residential water bill, says the San José Environmental Services Department.
Moreover, most California municipalities have watering restrictions regarding allowable hours in place -- some as strict as no watering lawns and landscapes between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Spring ahead, stay in compliance and check your sprinkler timers.
If in doubt on the watering rules where you live, check with your city.
Other water rules and conservation tips to keep in mind:
1. Be cool - water when it’s coolest.
2. Be quick - fix leaks as soon as possible
3. Be in control - don’t let water flow into gutters or streets
4. Be a sharp shooter - with automatic shut-off nozzles. Hoses are required to have a nozzle that shuts off when the handle is released
5. Be a sweeper - sweep hard surfaces. Use a broom instead of a hose to clean patios, sidewalks, parking lots, or other hard surfaces
