Music Video: When Vampires Rocked Lafayette
Turned out the manager had ties to Lafayette, and Contra Costa County bore the name of the band's last album - Contra - but this group of collegiate fusion rockers ended up taking Lafayette by storm.
They still talk about the night Vampire Weekend prowled Lafayette's Town Hall Theater, a 200-seat venue perfect for the inclusive nature of the band's music, a blend of African and Jamaican influences. The lucky few able to get a ticket couldn't stay in their seats and ended up rushing the stage.
Lafayette was just one of several small-venue gigs the band chose to line up in promotion of their album "Contra." A lot of locals we know would like to see them come back.
