MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Marin County Fair will celebrate 50 years of Star Wars next summer with screenings of the original film trilogy, costumed characters and special awards for fan-inspired creations.
The 2027 fair will honor the franchise's ties to Marin County, where filmmaker George Lucas and other artists helped develop the science fiction series, according to a county news release.
Organizers plan to screen Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi daily at the Veterans' Memorial Auditorium. The screenings will be included with fair admission.
Visitors can also expect appearances by the Galactic Creations Initiative, a volunteer costuming group. Competitive exhibits will feature special awards for Star Wars-themed artwork, baked goods, quilts and crafts submitted by adult and junior exhibitors.
"The Marin County Fair invites everyone to reach for the stars, whether that's a Millennium Falcon cake, a Wookiee-worthy quilt, a droid-inspired craft or artwork inspired by Tatooine's twin suns," Fair Manager Jennifer Olvera said in the release.
Exhibit guides and applications will be available on the fair's website in the coming months.
The fair is scheduled for July 1-5, 2027. Five-day Galaxy Passes will go on sale Nov. 27 for $85, while single-day tickets are expected to become available May 4, 2027.
