Literary Luncheon with Isabel Allende

Celebrating the paperback release of Island Beneath the Sea! Isabel Allende talks about her novel. This tale, set in Haiti and the southern United States during the 18th Century, follows the life of a young woman sold into slavery at age nine to the head of a large sugar plantation. Allende is the author of many internationally acclaimed novels, including House of the Spirits, Portrait in Sepia, and Daughter of Fortune. She has written three memoirs, including My Invented Country, Paula, and The Sum of Our Days, as well as a trilogy of children’s novels. Her books have been translated into more than 27 languages.
