Extra Security Planned for Some Batman Showings
In the wake of a deadly shooting in Colorado during the film "Batman: The Dark Night Rises," a few area movie theaters are planning to add extra security for this weekend's showings.

Following the recent shooting in Colorado at a screening of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, many local law enforcement agencies will assist Marin movie theaters with extra security for weekend showings.
James Holmes, a young gunman reportedly wearing a gas mask and a bulletproof vest, opened fire during a Friday midnight showing of the blockbuster in Aurora, Colo. The suspect killed 12 people and injured 59, according to CNN.
The Batman movie is expected to gross $200 million this weekend. Local movie theaters will be continuing with regular showings with help from extra partols from law enforcement.

Twin Cities Police said there were no immediate plans for increased security at the Century Cinema in Corte Madera, which is the only theater in Corte Madera and Larkspur showing Batman: The Dark Knight Rises this week.

"We'll have heavier patrols, including officers on foot," police spokesman Charly Taylor said.
AMC theaters announced that staff will not permit anyone in the theater wearing a mask or possessing fake weapons.
"Local law enforcement agencies, our landlords and their and our local security teams are stepping up nationwide to ensure we provide the safest environment possible for our guests," AMC said in a Facebook post.
At , one Cinemark employee said they will also be relying on the mall's security for any incidents that might occur. However, they will not be banning masks or costumes.
On Friday afternoon, President Barack Obama ordered American flags to be flown at half staff through sunset July 25 in remembrance of the shooting victims.
