$17 Million SuperLotto Plus Winners Come Forward

Prize-winning ticket was redeemed late Wednesday at the lottery's San Diego office.

How does 8, 21, 38, 43, 44, and 24 add up to $17,000,000? When you’re the lucky winners of the SuperLotto Plus jackpot, the math—but likely little else—makes perfect sense.

Two winners have come forward with the $17 million prize-winning ticket. Alvina Romero and Rodolfo Arellano redeemed the ticket late Wednesday at the California Lottery’s district office on Ruffin Road, according a lottery official.

The pair did not provide other details, according to public information officer Cathy Johnston, who confirmed the ticket was not purchased using the “quick pick” option. The numbers were chosen by the ticket buyer.

A search of the online database Spokeo shows a Rodolfo Arellano, 45, has lived in East County for seven years. The database shows an Alvina Romero has resided in the area as well.

The winning ticket was purchased Dec. 21 at the 7-Eleven on Broadway. 7-Eleven will receive a bonus of one half percent or $85,000, for selling the winning ticket.

The winning numbers were 8, 21, 38, 43, 44 and Mega number 24. The estimated cash option amount for this ticket is $12.2 million.
