43 Laptops Stolen From Lemon Grove School, Authorities Say

The Dell Chromebook laptops were stolen from San Miguel Elementary School, according to the Sheriff's Department and Crime Stoppers.

LEMON GROVE, CA: A reward of up to $1,000 was offered Tuesday for information that leads to the arrest of whoever stole 43 laptops from San Miguel Elementary School in Lemon Grove late last month.

The Dell Chromebook laptops, which were valued at $12,000, were taken from a storage shed off San Miguel Avenue sometime April 27 or 28, according to the sheriff's department and Crime Stoppers.

Authorities said the computers only work when connected to the school's wireless Internet, and display "Property of the Lemon Grove School District" when turned on.

There was no video surveillance around the area of the shed where the computers were stored, authorities said.

Anyone with information on the theft was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477, or to contact the agency via email or text message at Sdcrimestoppers.org.
