Community Corner

Special Thanks to Michael Monsoor VFW Post 2082

Partners involved in the Lemon Grove Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Zone would like to give a special thanks to the Michael Monsoor VFW Post 2082 for generously donating meeting space for the HEAL Zone’s monthly gatherings.

In addition to serving as a vital resource for our local veterans, the Michael Monsoor VFW is a valuable community gathering place. The post has two halls with plenty of parking available for military functions and ceremonies, wedding receptions, family reunions, business and club meetings, company parties, etc. For more information or booking, please click here or contact Sheila LaPrade at vfw2082@post.sdcoxmail.com or by phone at 619-465-1992.

The Lemon Grove HEAL Zone is a coalition of community partners, including Lemon Grove residents, graduates of the Lemon Grove Resident Leadership Academy, the Lemon Grove School District, the City of Lemon Grove, the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative and local businesses, developing projects focused on improving community health and preventing the diseases—such as diabetes and hypertension—that often result from obesity. The three-year plan to make better behaviors a daily habit for all of Lemon Grove is part of the $7 million Healthy Eating Active Living Zones initiative Kaiser Permanent is rolling out across Southern California.
