CHP: Man May Have Jumped to His Death on San Diego Freeway

For those who may have caught in this morning's traffic, the cause was a person may have intentionally jumped from a freeway overcrossing in Hillcrest dying in the process, authorities said.

The fatality on southbound state Route 163 at Robinson was reported shortly after 6 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

All lanes of traffic on southbound state Route 163 at Robinson, along with the eastbound and westbound Interstate 8 transition ramps to southbound state Route 163, were immediately closed. As of 7:30 a.m., state Route 163 at I- 8 was reopened, but all lanes of traffic on southbound state Route 163 at Washington Street remained closed until further notice.
