The course is geared towards beginning gardeners, so, even if your hands have never touched soil or plants, you are welcome. If you already know something about growing your own food, you are sure to deepen your knowledge and walk away with more ideas to implement.

However, if you are an experienced, or somewhat experienced Gardener come and take the course as well. We would like for you to step up into the role of a teacher. We are providing a curriculum as well as training if you further need/want any after attending a class series. We like to offer this course over and over again, in different time slots and hopefully with different teachers. If you are interested, please contact me.

Instructor: Stephen Redding
Bio: "Steve was raised on a small farm in the Adirondacks in upstate New York where his family grew vegetables, herbs, fruit, and raised chickens, pigs, and ducks. He lacked enthusiasm for agriculture as a teen and was not expecting a to find himself building a chicken coop twenty years later. He moved to the city and studied psychology, then moved out to San Diego in 2007. Since then he has become particularly interested in the preventative health benefits of nutrient-dense foods and healthy digestion. He has a passion for gardening, healthy nutrition, self-sufficiency, and sustainability. He is a member of the Mt. Hope Community Garden where he volunteers and assisted in building garden beds and prepping the plots. In December he completed internship in sustainable agriculture at Wild Willow Education Farm. Steve is excited to share what he has learned and to build fresh soil with new gardeners."
