Girl, 14, Struck by Car Near Sweetwater Reservoir

BREAKING: The El Cajon teen was rushed to Rady Children's Hospital San Diego, according to the CHP.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 14-year-old El Cajon girl suffered a fractured skull and other injuries when she was hit by an SUV as she jaywalked near Sweetwater Reservoir, authorities said Friday.

The eastbound 2005 Ford Escape struck the teen shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday on Jamacha Boulevard, about 100 feet east of Grand Avenue, in La Presa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Medics took the girl to Children's Hospital in San Diego for treatment of a fractured skull, a leg laceration and other injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the SUV, an 80-year-old Spring Valley man, was unhurt, CHP public-affairs Officer Kevin Pearlstein said. The motorist was not cited.
