Gun, Cocaine, Other Drugs Seized At Lemon Grove Business

LEMON GROVE, CA — A Lemon Grove business owner was arrested after authorities said they found a handgun and large quantities of drugs while serving a search warrant Thursday.

Detectives searched a business around 11:20 a.m. in the 2700 block of Lemon Grove Avenue while investigating reports that a convicted felon may have had access to firearms, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

During the search, detectives seized 1.34 pounds of cocaine, 2.12 pounds of marijuana, 93.4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and 620 amphetamine pills, officials said. A 9 mm handgun was also found inside the business, which operates as a barbershop and recording studio.

The business owner, Roy Kirkpatrick, 37, was arrested without incident and booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of possessing controlled substances for sale and possessing a controlled substance while armed, according to the sheriff's office.

The convicted felon, who authorities said is Kirkpatrick's half-brother, was detained during the search but later released. Detectives did not find a firearm connected to him.
