Heartland Fire & Rescue Climb for a Good Cause

Heartland Fire & Rescue members proudly announced taking part in the 2013 9-11 Memorial Stairclimb, a fundraiser designed to help firefighters and their families.

The event took place on Sept. 8 in San Diegoand featured more than 900 participants who “climbed 110 stories in memory of the 403 Fallen Firefighters, Police Officers, and Port Authority Officers who died 12 years ago on September 11, 2001,” event organizers wrote.

More than $56,000 was raised this year, officials said. The Heartland  Fire & Rescue serves Lemon Grove, El Cajon and La Mesa.
