Learn to Build with Urbanite
Concrete is a major contributor to pollution and to taking up precious landfill space. It is easy to reuse. Learn how.

Did you know that nearly ten percent of the greenhouse gases created by humans are the result of the manufacturing of cement and concrete? This material is widely used for driveways, sidewalks, foundations and more. Even though concrete lasts for a long time, for cosmetic or other reasons, jackhammers all over town do their noisy work to reduce a driveway or a sidewalk to a pile of what most consider rubble in no time. Daily, truck after truck loaded to the brim with slabs of cement of all sizes is making its way to the landfill.
But wait! More and more people are in on the once closely held secret - that rubble, that pile of garbage, is actually an awesome building material. First off, start calling it by its proper name: Urbanite. Already, that makes it so much more desirable then broken concrete, right? Then, realize that it is a completely free material. Not only is it free, but often will be also delivered gratis to your house or wherever you want it. It hardly can get better than that.
But wait. It gets better. Now, you have the raw material to make patios, walkways, build retaining walls, veggie or flower beds, use it as a foundation for that pizza oven you always wanted and the list goes on. Pretty awesome! Yet it gets even better still. When your friends are over, enjoying and admiring all you have done with that pile of rubble which used to sit in your driveway, the one your neighbors were shaking their heads about feeling certain you had lost it now, and the one which inspired countless “will haul” guys to force their business card into your reluctant hand, you now can proudly point out how you did your part in saving our world.

You just prevented several truckloads to fill the diminishing landfill even more - and - you saved the emission those trucks would have spewed into the environment on their trip - and - you saved the company who gave you the material some money (every load going into the dump costs) - and - you saved yourself some money you now can spend to entertain your friends - and - you prevented the creation of green house gases which would have occurred by making new product for your project. I told you. Pretty awesome!
