Shooting on Route 125 Hospitalizes Spring Valley Man

The car-to-car shooting was reported early Sunday near Jamacha Road, according to the CHP.

SAN DIEGO, CA: A black Mercedes pulled up next to a sedan on Route 125 early Sunday, and someone inside opened fire, sending a driver to a hospital.

The 22-year-old Spring Valley man was hospitalized with stable life signs following the 1:30 a.m. shooting attack near La Presa, south of Spring Valley. The 21-year-old Chula Vista woman who was riding in the front passenger seat was not injured.

They had been in a southbound 2012 Chevrolet Malibu LT on Route 125 near Jamacha Road shortly before 1:30 a.m., the CHP said. Their names were not released.

The black Mercedes Benz had pulled along the driver's side of the Malibu as it approached the Route 54 interchange, when someone inside opened fire. The stricken driver was able to veer onto Route 54 and exit that freeway at Woodman Street, the CHP said.

He was taken by paramedics to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest. The assailant's car was last seen heading west on Route 54.
