Tearful Goodbye to the Patch

This is my farewell contribution to the Patch.

Now before all you invisible, non-existent people start reaching for the imaginary tissues, let me explain.

There is only one reason for me to halt my tirade of free expression.

• It’s not because I have hardly anything left to say.
• It’s not because the Patch is anything less than a stellar mouthpiece in our community.
• And it’s not because the world needs no more articles from articulate, intelligent oddballs like me.

The reason I’m stopping this blog to Contributeville Patch is because YOU do not exist.

You are not receiving this. You are not reading this. Therefore you do not even exist. I am quite clear I do not have an audience here. I am not even clear this is being published, and even if it is, I have the choice of “Bulletin Board” and “Local Deals and Classified.” I don’t belong in either place.

There was a time with the Patch, our pieces would be put in a commentary section and be linked in a daily e-mail that went out to community members. But now, I’m not clear that this is being published and that YOU are really reading this.

As there is a somewhat silly sentiment in this post, I want it known I am not resentful. I just wanted a creative way to take my exit, gracefully and with some sort of lesson. The lesson for me (and you all can share it with me): make sure where you take your creativity, life energy and focus has a home that will be well-received and appreciated for the gift that it is.
