Teen Stabbed in Spring Valley Fight Not Expected to Survive: Sheriff

The East County Gang Task Force is assisting in the search for a suspect in the alleged assault with a deadly weapon.

SPRING VALLEY, CA: A 17-year-old boy who was stabbed during a fight earlier this week in Spring Valley remains hospitalized and is fighting for his life, a San Diego County sheriff's lieutenant said Thursday.

The fight was reported around 4:30 p.m. Monday in front of a residence in the 8900 block of Delrose Avenue, according to sheriff's Lt. Kenneth Nelson. 

When deputies arrived to the scene, the stabbing victim, Jeffrey Quirino, had already been taken to a local hospital by a passing motorist.

"His injuries are so severe that he is not expected to survive," Nelson said.

Detectives with the Sheriff's Homicide Detail, the Rancho San Diego Station and the East County Gang Task Force were actively investigating the stabbing as of Thursday afternoon — in search of an unknown Hispanic man in his early 20s in connection with the alleged assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Homicide Detail at 858-974-2321 during normal business hours. After-hours calls can made to 858-565-5200. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 and be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, Lawrence said.
