283-Acre Fire At Carnegie Park Near Livermore Fully Contained
Although the Hollow Fire was brought to 100 containment Friday morning, firefighters will be patrolling the burn area for the next few days.
LIVERMORE, CA — A 283-acre brush fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area has been 100 percent contained, Cal Fire reported Friday morning, although the agency said firefighters will be patrolling the burn area for the next few days.
Dubbed the Hollow Fire broke, the blaze was reported July 3 after 3 p.m. on West Corral Hollow Road in the park, and had caused firefighters some difficulties due to the terrain, according to the agency.
At one point Cal Fire reported the brusher had consumed 500 acres, but the agency was able to get better mapping by Wednesday evening and as a result readjusted estimates on the fire area. Crews remained on the blaze around the clock, and Cal Fire said that by Thursday afternoon the fire was 90 percent contained.
