Tesla Crosses Double Yellow Line In 4-Vehicle Altamont Pass Crash
A Tesla was totaled and the driver injured in the 4-vehicle crash, which shut down Altamont Pass for 3 hours Friday morning.

LIVERMORE, CA — Altamont Pass Road was closed for several hours Friday morning following a head-on crash involving two cars and two semi-trucks, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At around 6:19 a.m. CHP received reports of a head-on crash involving four vehicles at Altamont Pass Road, according to the CHP incident log.
A blue Tesla 3 traveling westbound on Altamont Pass Road traveled over double yellow lines, according to CHP Officer Tyler Hahn. The car collided head-on with a tractor-trailer truck traveling eastbound. The truck tried to avoid the crash, but was unable to. After the collision, the big rig veered left, and a Toyota Camry collided with its side.

No one else was believed to be trapped inside the vehicles, according to the log. A helicopter was dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Tesla, a Stockton resident, was transported to Eden Medical Center with moderate injuries, Hahn said. The big rig driver had a minor complaint-of-pain injury.
