LIVERMORE, CA — A Livermore minor was released from Juvenile Hall after allegedly stealing a car, leading police on a chase, and crashing it, according to the Livermore Police Department.
On Monday at around 10:30 p.m., Livermore police responded to a report of a stolen 2022 Acura TLX on Broadmoor Street. Officers reportedly located the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on I-580, and notified the California Highway Patrol. CHP located the Acura TLX and an additional Acura MDX, which was reported stolen out of San Leandro, near Hacienda Boulevard.
CHP pursued the Acura MDX into Castro Valley, where it crashed, police said. The sole occupant fled on foot, but was later taken into custody.
The suspect, a juvenile from Livermore, was transported into Juvenile Hall for booking, though they declined to accept him, meaning he did not meet criteria for secure custody, and he was released home pending further disciplinary proceedings.
The Acura TLX remains outstanding, according to police.
