Today's riddle: How far can a fast dog run into the woods? 🤔 (Answer below!)
Weather forecast:
• Coroner identifies woman killed in Vasco Road crash (pleasantonweekly.com) — A woman has been identified after dying from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash on Vasco Road in unincorporated Livermore earlier this month. Authorities say 58-year-old Virginia Lynn Driscoll of Walnut Creek was critically hurt when her car collided with a pickup at Vasco Road and Old Vasco Road and later died at the hospital, while the pickup’s occupants survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
• Roll the tape: LLNL captures inception of hydrogen-uranium reaction for the first time (llnl.gov) — Livermore’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has, for the first time, captured the earliest moments of a dangerous hydrogen-uranium reaction that affects nuclear fuel, fusion and hydrogen storage safety. Using white-light interferometry, scientists tracked tiny surface blisters as they formed and burst, paving the way for better models of how uranium components degrade over time.
• NCS roundup: Granada (baseball), SRV, College Park (softball) reach finals (fresnobee.com) — Livermore athletes are in the thick of North Coast Section playoff action, with Granada’s baseball team reaching the Division I final and Livermore High softball still chasing a NorCal berth after a tight loss to San Ramon Valley. Several East Bay teams, including Livermore, now head into third-place games and championship matchups that will decide who advances to regional tournaments.
