Back-To-School Drive Underway For Needy Tri-Valley Students

Collection for donations of backpacks and supplies is led by Tri-Valley Haven. When shopping for your kids, maybe grab an extra item or two?

LIVERMORE, CA – Tri-Valley Haven is gearing up for its annual "Backpack Event" for area students returning to school and is seeking donations of school supplies for families in need.

“Tri-Valley Haven reaches out to many families in the area that are experiencing hardship,” said Ralph Johnson, director of Homeless and Family Services.

Donations can be delivered to Tri-Valley Haven’s food pantry at 418 Junction Ave. in Livermore, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 2.

Supplies needed include: backpacks; binder paper; binders; notebooks; pocket folders; scissors; glue sticks; pens; pencils; colored pencils; erasers; rulers; markers; crayons; calculators; compasses; protractors; and gift cards in $10 denominations to help families whose children need new shoes for school, according to the organization.

Now in its fourth decade, Tri-Valley Haven serves as a vital community resource for adults and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault or homelessness.
