Barneys Store In Livermore Closing As Part Of Bankruptcy

LIVERMORE, CA — Barneys New York, which once reigned in the world of high fashion, is now being sold piece by piece, including the warehouse store in Livermore.

In August, the ritzy retailer announced it had filed for bankruptcy and would shutter 15 stores across the U.S., but said the warehouse store at the Livermore outlets would remain open.

Friday, however, Great American Group and Tiger Capital Group announced that store closing sales would begin at the five flagship Barneys New York stores and at Barneys Warehouse locations — including Livermore. A subsidiary of B. Riley Financial, Great American Group provides retail liquidation services; Tiger Capital Group provides asset valuation, advisory and disposition services.

A spokesperson for B. Riley Financial confirmed the Livermore closure on Tuesday. Great American is conducting the closing sale for the Livermore location with Tiger Capital, and the sale is expected to last through the end of the holiday season, once all items are sold, according to BRF's Jo Anne McCusker. At that point, the store will close.

Exclusive private sale events "for Barneys' most loyal customers" began this week. The closing sales are being conducted in conjunction with Barneys' Chapter 11 filing.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for its most loyal customers to buy items that rarely go on sale at markdown prices. We encourage shoppers to visit their nearest Barneys location to take advantage of this sale before this highly exclusive merchandise sells out," said Scott Carpenter, president of Retail Solutions with Great American Group.

Barney's gift cards can be redeemed through Nov. 7, 2019 in accordance with the Bankruptcy Court order, according to B. Riley Financial.

In addition to the Livermore location in the San Francisco Premium Outlets (2626 Livermore Outlets Drive), a liquidation sale and subsequent closure also began at the Barneys warehouse store at Woodbury Common in Central Valley New York.

Additionally, five Barneys flagship stores are also holding liquidation sales prior to closure:

• Downtown New York at 101 Seventh Avenue in the Chelsea district of Manhattan
• Beverly Hills at 9570 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA
• San Francisco at 77 O'Farrell Street in downtown Union Square
• Copley Place at 100 Huntington Avenue in Back Bay Boston
