Livermore Brush Fire Knocks Out Power to 1300 Residents

The fire has been extinguished. Drivers in the area are asked to use caution.

LIVERMORE, CA — A brush fire in Livermore that knocked out the power to several hundred residents Thursday afternoon has been extinguished, fire officials said.

According to Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Deputy Chief Joe Testa, the fire, which was reported at 2:57 p.m in the area of I-580 and the Isabel Avenue offramp, appeared to have started alongside the freeway and spread to the nearby field. Testa said the fire burned two power poles, knocking down wires.

The outage initially cut the power service to more than 300 PG&E customers in the area and has since grown to about 1300 residents who are without power. Crews are working to restore the power to customers, according to the PG&E website. They estimate power may be restored before 7 p.m.

Testa says Cal Fire and Alameda County Fire responded to help contain the blaze. No one was injured and no property was damaged. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
