Standup comedian and San Francisco talk show host Brian Copeland will present “The Great American Sh*tshow: Monologues on Life in the Age of Trump,” at the Mertes Center for the Performing Arts at Las Positas College in Livermore at 2 pm on Sunday, February 8.
In what critics have called ‘a therapy session for progressives quietly going mad,’ Copeland takes on Trump's America, MAGA friendships, when America was last great, #MeToo, political exhaustion, and the emotional toll of living in nonstop chaos.
Copeland made his theatrical debut in 2004 with a one-man play, “Not a Genuine Black Man,” exploring race and identity growing up in San Leandro. It became the longest-running solo show in San Francisco theatrical history. He first performed “The Great American Sh*tshow” monologues in 2020 and updated them in 2024. In addition to comedy, Copeland is a best-selling author, actor, and podcaster. In 2025 he was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame.
Tickets can be purchased for $35 online (plus fees) at bit.ly/Copeland2026 and $45 at the door.
A portion of the show’s proceeds will be shared among three non-profit groups who promote progressive candidates and issues and oppose the Trump agenda: Eden Area Indivisible, Indivisible Tri-Valley (Pleasanton/Dublin/San Ramon), and Livermore Indivisible.
