Calling All Bands: Legendary 'Battle' Seeking East Bay Entrants

The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District is accepting entries for the 53rd Annual Battle of the Bands Live Auditions.

The entry deadline is Friday, Jan. 8, or until 30 bands have registered.

Band finalists will have a chance to play in front of an audience of more than 1,000 people, acquire musical exposure, and have an opportunity to win prizes such as studio time and musical equipment.

“The Battle” has years of history of quality musicianship, impressive performances, and can boast of famous past competitors such as Y&T, Fungo Mungo and The Four Fendermans.

More than 30 bands will compete in an audition and the top 12 are invited to take the stage at the Chabot College Performing Arts Center before an energetic crowd of 1,000-plus people on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Auditions are Saturday, Jan. 16 at Hayward’s Matt Jimenez Community Center.

Pre-registration is required and includes an application and nonrefundable fee of $20.00. Entry forms are now available and will be accepted until Jan. 8 or until 30 bands are registered.
