Chimney Fire: Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters' View From the Fire Lines
The crew shared a dramatic photo of the blaze that threatened Hearst Castle and nearby homes over the weekend.
Four firefighters from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department were recently sent to help with the massive Chimney Fire in San Luis Obispo County. Fire officials say the team has been on the fire lines for seven days.
The Chimney fire broke out on Aug. 14, and has already burned 31,644 acres. The blaze is 35 percent contained as of Monday morning, according to Cal Fire officials.
Livermore-Pleasanton Fire still has crews all over the state assisting with the many wildfires burning in California. The Tri-Valley fire department has firefighters battling the unrelenting Soberanes fire, which has been burning since July 22, and a team just returned from the Blue Cut fire in San Bernardino County, which closed roads, forced evacuations and destroyed a historic landmark. The devastating Clayton fire, in Lake County, which started Aug. 13, has charred 3,929 acres and destroyed 300 structures.
