Community Center Opens As Cooling Center During Livermore Heat Wave
The air-conditioned lounge offers games, books and DVDs, while the adjacent pool is open for swimming.

LIVERMORE, CA – The Robert Livermore Community Center is opening today, Friday and Saturday to the public as a cooling center as temperatures are predicted to hit as high as 109 degrees this weekend.
The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District said those seeking relief from the heat can spend time and relax at the air-conditioned RLCC. The Vintage Lounge will be open and offers free games, plus a DVD and book library.
The site will be open until 8 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. The Recreation Building at the center will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and closed Sunday and Monday.

At the adjacent Aquatic Center, patrons can cool off in the pool.
Today, the pool until 1:30 p.m. for lap swim. On Friday, adult lap swim is 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; recreational swim is available in the activity pool from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Saturday, lap swim is open 8 to 11 a.m.

Recreational swim is open for both the activity pool and main pool from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Labor Day. Prices vary from $3 to $7 based on height and being a resident or non-resident.
