Coronavirus: Livermore Lab Employee Test Came Back Negative

The employee and 25 others who came into contact with the person are still working from home as a precaution, the lab said.

LIVERMORE, CA — A Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory employee has tested negative for the new coronavirus after learning they were exposed to someone who tested positive.

The worker was not displaying symptoms when they were ordered to stay home from work, but reported experiencing symptoms similar to coronavirus, said LLNL spokesperson Lynda Seaver. The employee informed LLNL Wednesday night that they were exposed to a patient.

On Thursday LLNL ordered some workers to stay home as it disinfected the building that the employee worked in. The entire building returned to work Monday, except for the employee and 25 others who were in close contact with that person, Seaver said.

LLNL has informed employees of precautions they can take to avoid getting ill, and has taken additional precautions to limit visitors and employee travel in and out of the facility, she said.
